Monthly Meeting

Presented by Jack Kurzweil

This is the monthly meeting of the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club (WDRC). The Club works to renew and reform the Democratic Party. The evening begins with a social hour and delicious potluck supper at 6:00 pm — bring your favorite healthy dish to share! At 7:00 pm the Club begins its program and all guests of the evening, members and non-members alike, are invited to participate in the discussions.

Club Endorsements

This evening’s program is a special endorsement meeting for the November 2010 elections. WDRC members will make endorsements in local and state-wide elections — including the initiatives on the ballot.

Some candidates for office have already been endorsed by the Wellstone Club: Barbara Boxer (U.S. Senate), Barbara Lee (U.S. Congress), Nancy Skinner (State Assembly), Sandre Swanson (State Assembly), and Debra Bowen (Secretary of State).

The Wellstone Club has yet to endorse the remaining statewide Democratic candidates. Each of these candidates will have a separate vote on a single ballot page: Jerry Brown (Governor), Gavin Newsom (Lt. Governor), John Chiang (Controller), Bill Lockyer (Treasurer), Kamala Harris (Attorney General), Dave Jones (Insurance Commissioner), and Betty Yee (Board of Equalization). There’s also a contested election for the non-partisan office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction: Tom Torlakson and Larry Aceves.

At this meeting, local propositions that will be on the November ballot and candidates for local offices will also be endorsed. Come to the meeting and learn about candidates and issues that will be voted on in November!
