Thin Ice:

The Inside Story of Climate Science

by David Sington and Simon Lamb

~ with Prof. Peter Barrett in person

Peter Barrett from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, suggested to Simon Lamb, then at Oxford University, in 2006 that he make a film about the science of climate change with his friend David Sington.  The idea was to let people see an insider’s view of the astonishing range of human activity and scientific work needed to understand the world’s changing climate.  Viewers would then be able to decide individually and collectively how to deal with the issue.  Simon and David talked to researchers on four continents as they explained their work measuring changes in the atmosphere, oceans, and ice sheets.  They also discovered how scientists use computer models to understand the effects of those changes.  The film they made has been a huge success and gone around the world!

Film evenings begin with optional potluck refreshments and social hour at 6:30 pm, followed by the film at 7:30 pm, followed by optional discussion after the film.  Come see this amazing film and join in discussions afterwards!  Prof. Peter Barrett will be here to answer questions after the film!
